Stewardship

The religious idea of stewardship is that everything we have belongs to God.  And we are permitted to use it while we are here on Earth.  As Christians, we believe that God will hold us all accountable for how we use the many gifts entrusted to our care to glorify him and minister to others.  The Episcopal Church sees stewardship as more than simply contributing money to the church.  It is also about contributing time and talents, and volunteering for ministry and mission.  It’s about reaching out to build relationships from a perspective of abundance instead of scarcity.

Further, our stewardship of time, talent, and money is not an effort to create a better relationship with God.  Rather, it is a response that comes out of our personal relationship with God through following Christ as our Savior.  It is not done to receive something from God.  It is a way of showing gratitude to God for our many blessings.Give Time Talent Treasure Icon

Good stewardship is at the heart of good discipleship.  The second chapter of Corinthians provides several stewardship principles to help us grow in this important spiritual discipline.

Every Christian has a stewardship responsibility and must make a personal stewardship decision.  Attitude in giving is important.  The Christian steward will give willingly to the Lord.  Christian giving should be given systematically in proportion to income and possessions.  Christian’s gifts will be at a sacrifice and given joyfully from his/her heart because they have the privilege of giving.

During the fall of each year, the Vestry will conduct our annual stewardship campaign asking parishioners to pledge their time, talent, and money to the church for the following year.  During the year, new members and others that have not yet committed, will also have an opportunity to submit a pledge.  Please pray on this, and remember that giving back through actions, words and deeds is our way of saying, “Thank you!”

To make a pledge, simply call our office or CLICK HERE to download a pledge sheet form.  Complete the form and place it in the Sunday offering plate.  Or you may mail it, email it, or fax it to the office.  If you have any questions, do not hesitate to phone the administrative assistant.  Click here to find out how to contact us.
